Mona Tougaard is the cover star of the May 2023 edition of Vogue France
For May, the month of long weekends and the promise of vacations, Vogue is putting Scandinavia on the front page. This spring edition celebrates Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the lands of warm and simple joie de vivre with their traditions rooted in nature. This is embodied by the grace and daring gaze of the Danish model, Mona Tougaard. In Scandinavia, the secret to happiness may lie in its cuisine, known for its commitment to seasonal and small-scale local produce, as demonstrated by the work of its chefs and in its culinary and ecological innovations. As for fashion, Copenhagen Fashion Week is one of the most popular of the moment, effectively embodied by its new style players including Ganni, Saks Potts, (di)vision and Skall Studio.

This issue is also dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld, who will be honored at the Met Gala on May 1, 2023, at the Costume Institute in New York. Four years after his death, the exhibition, titled Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, traces the designer’s extraordinary career. For Vogue, ten great designers including Pierpaolo Piccioli, Donatella Versace and John Galliano pay tribute to Lagerfeld with ten unique designs. These creations, which were inspired by his free spirit, daring voice, trademark aesthetic, and legendary sketches, were brought to life in a series of photos captured by Annie Leibovitz inside the Grand Palais – the signature venue for all of Lagerfeld‘s shows. The result is a majestic shoot, which sees daring style meet with tradition and modernity.
